February is here which means award season is in full swing. Not only is Hollywood’s biggest night, the Academy Awards this month, but music’s biggest night, the Grammys, are also set to air this Sunday, February 10th on CBS. Hosted by R&B songstress and 15-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys the night will feature performances from nominees like Cardi B, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, and many more. Let us take a look at the nominees for some of the nights biggest awards and dissect who will win and who should win.

H.E.R. – H.E.R.

Scorpion – Drake

Black Panther: The Album – Kendrick Lamar & Various Artist

Golden Hour – Kacey Musgraves

Beerbongs & Bentleys – Post Malone

Invasion of Privacy – Cardi B

Dirty Computer – Janelle Monae

Should Win: Invasion of Privacy – Cardi B

Monae’s futuristic funk sound is refreshing and fun while folk artist like Carlile showed how brillant lyrics and simple acoustics can make a remarkable album. With an array of hits from Bodak Yellow to I Like It, Cardi B proved to be not only a hit maker but also a crossover success. The Grammys would be fools to not crown Cardi the queen of a new era in music.

Will Win: Golden Hour – Kacey Musgraves

With Golden Hour, Musgraves crafted a beautifully done country album that feels refreshing in a time when most country music is trying too hard to be pop. Musgraves proved that country music does not need rap features or auto-tune to be successful.

All the Stars – Kendrick Lamar & SZA

Boo’d Up – Ella Mai

God’s Plan – Drake

In My Blood – Shawn Mendes

The Joke – Brandi Carlile

The Middle – Zedd, Maren Morris, and Grey

Shallow – Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper

This Is America – Childish Gambino

Should Win: This Is America – Childish Gambino

Viral and timely, Donald Glover’s alter-ego Childish Gambino gave America a large dose of honesty. Paired with a video that is both tragic and beautiful this track and Gambino both deserve to be rewarded.

Will Win: Shallow – Lady GaGa

After already snagging a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Song, expect Shallow to continue its trek down the yellow brick road that is award season.

This Is America – Childish Gambino

God’s Plan – Drake

I Like It – Cardi B feat. Bad Bunny & J Balvin

The Middle – Zedd, Maren Morris, and Grey

Shallow – Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper

All the Stars – SZA and Kendrick Lamar

Rockstar – Post Malone feat. 21 Savage

The Joke – Brandi Carlile

Should Win: I Like It – Cardi B

The unofficial song of summer 2018, Cardi B featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin, two of Latin music’s biggest rappers was everywhere last year. The infectious blend of hip-hop and Latin flavor made for a rare musical delicacy people could not stop devouring.

Will Win: This Is America – Childish Gambino

If Lady GaGa takes Song of the Year, fully expect the Grammys to still award Gambino here for his viral and passionate track.

Dua Lipa

Luke Combs

Greta Van Fleet

Bebe Rexha

Chloe x Halle

Jorja Smith

Margo Price

Should Win: Luke Combs

With 4 song going to number one on the country charts, Luke Combs is the fresh face of country music. The Grammys love to anote the next big country star and historically Best New Artist has gone to several country acts over more well-known pop acts.

Will Win: Dua Lipa

No matter how success Combs is in the country charts, there is no denying Dua Lipa is the next big voice in music. With a barrage of hits under her belt, Lipa is sure to walk away Sunday with this prestigious honor.

Swimming – Mac Miller

Invasion of Privacy – Cardi B

Victory Lap – Nipsey Hussle

Daytona – Pusha T

Astroworld – Travis Scott

Should Win: Swimming – Mac Miller

Continuing to push his sound and the idea of what hip-hop music can be, Mac Miller’s final album is nothing short of a masterpiece. After his unfortunate passing in September 2018, Mac left this world and fans with one last piece of him. The Grammys are known for posthumously awarding artist, as a fan and lover of Mac’s music hopefully they do the same come Sunday.

Will Win: Invasion of Privacy – Cardi B

If Cardi does not walk away with Album of the Year, consider Best Rap Album her consolation prize for an album that deserves recognition. With a category surprisingly missing Drake and his recent album Scorpion, this category is truly Cardi’s to lose.

Golden Hour – Kacey Musgraves

Unapologetically – Kelsea Ballerini

Port Saint Joe – Brothers Osborne

Girl Going Nowhere – Ashley McBryde

From a Room: Volume 2 – Chris Stapleton

Should Win: Golden Hour – Kacey Musgraves

If Musgraves walks away with Album of the Year it might be the biggest shock of the night. If that is the case then she could still be rewarded here.

Will Win: Golden Hour – Kacey Musgraves

Honestly Musgraves winning here is the surest of bets for the evening.

Camila – Camila Cabello

Sweetener – Ariana Grande

Reputation – Taylor Swift

Shawn Mendes – Shawn Mendes

Beautiful – Trauma Pink

Meaning of Life– Kelly Clarkson

Should Win: Sweetener – Ariana Grande

After being shockingly snubbed in the major categories, Grande still has a chance at Grammy gold. With multiple chart and radio hits, Sweetener feels like Grande at her best. After a 2018 that saw Grande take her fair share of ups and downs, 2019 has already started off great for Grande, could that streak continue come Sunday?

Will Win: Sweetener – Ariana Grande

She is a Grammy darling. With the unfortunate snubs in major categories, Grande still will not leave empty handed Sunday. The Princess of Pop should continue her reign come this weekend.
