Another Walking Dead Spin-off is Coming to AMC

Since the original series premiere in 2010, The Walking Dead has ignited fans’ passion for the undead, sparking popular merch ranging from shirts and accessories to whiskey. It’s also sparked popular spin-off series, including Talking Dead (2011) and Fear the Walking Dead (2015). Now, we’ve got another spin-off to look forward to.

Let’s back track. The Walking Dead is about a poor Sheriff Deputy named Rick Grimes who wakes up from a coma just to find out the entire world as he knows it, has been utterly destroyed. Zombies rule the earth now, and Rick must lead a group of survivors to stay alive. It’s a really bad way to wake up from a coma. Like you expect your family to be waiting bedside for you, but instead it’s a hungry zombie trying to tear you apart. Rough.

Talking Dead is just a talk show hosted by Chris Hardwick. He and his guests talk about the most recent episodes of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.

Fear the Walking Dead premiered August 23, 2015. It’s a spin-off, set in Los Angeles, following two families who witness firsthand, the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. I actually like this spin-off better than the original. The Walking Dead skipped a whole lot having the main character waking up to the apocalypse. We didn’t have to see how it started. Fear the Walking Dead takes us through those steps. Still, though, there are at least four teenagers who are part of the main cast. One of them must have seen a zombie movie. How come zombie movies rarely ever exist in zombie movies/television worlds?

Now, the new spin-off doesn’t have a title yet. The exact plot is also unknown, although there have been a few details revealed. The series will focus on the first generation of survivors to come of age in the apocalyptic world as we know it. Known cast members include Nico Tortorella as Felix, Aliyah Royale as Iris and Annet Mahendru as Huck.

This spin-off is set to release in Spring of 2020. But worry not, because there will be plenty of on-screen walkers in the meantime. Fear the Walking Dead season five returned Sunday, August 11. Talking Dead season nine also returned at the end of the episode. The Walking Dead season ten premieres October 6, 2019.

It: Chapter 2, Doctor Sleep and Castle Rock – Must-See’s for Stephen King Fans

For years, fans of horror author Stephen King have watched his books come to life in movies and TV. Coming up this year are a few movies that are bound to be terrifying and surreal.

2017 brought us the first part of It, a story of seven outcasts, dubbed “The Losers Club,” who band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster. This creature disguises itself as a clown named Pennywise and feeds on the children of Derry. Clowns are creepy enough as it is, although is that because of Pennywise the clown…or just Gacy? This version of It is a remake of the 1990 TV movie.

Later this year, on September 6, It: Chapter Two will hit theaters. It takes place twenty-seven years after the events of the first movie. The Losers Club have grown up and moved away from Derry and live totally new lives. However, a single phone call brings them back to finish the fight.

But that isn’t it. Doctor Sleep is also expected to be in theaters November 8. Based off the novel of the same name, Doctor Sleep is a sequel to The Shining. If you’ve never seen that classic, it’s about a family that heads to an isolated hotel for the winter. A sinister presence influences father Jack Torrance into violence, while his son, Danny, sees terrifying forebodings from both the past and future. Danny has psychic powers that allow this to happen, a phenomenon called The Shine.

Dan Torrance is now an adult. He meets a young girl who possesses similar powers and tries to protect her from a cult called The True Knot. These guys prey on children with The Shine to remain immortal.

Starting to see a pattern here…Lot of preying on children going on…

Hulu’s Castle Rock is also expecting a second season sometime soon. While no release date is yet set, it’s likely to come near the end of 2019 or early 2020. Castle Rock is a combination of multiple Stephen King stories combined into one, intertwining characters and themes from the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine.

So far, we know that Season 2 will have links to Misery, “The Body”/ Stand by Me, Needful Things, ‘Salem’s Lot and “The Sun Dog.”
